What to Expect from Your Business Law Consultation

We get a lot of questions from prospective clients about what to expect during your initial meeting with the firm. The type of first meeting you'll have depends on the services you’re interested in. If all you need is a quick price quote (for drafting or reviewing a contract, for example), we’ll provide that quote to you at no charge.

But if you have questions about your business’s legal needs (like what type of business entity is best for you or how to protect your trademarks), we’ll recommend a paid consultation. We've designed this consultation process to give business owners clarity on their legal needs and to determine whether working with Kliebert Law is the right fit. After the consultation, you’ll receive an email summarizing what we discussed, recommended next steps, and a pricing summary, along with the confidence that only comes from knowing you’re legally protecting your business.

Here’s what you can expect during your consultation:

1. Why You’re Here

Every consultation starts with Kate asking why you’re meeting with us and what you’re looking for help with. She’ll ask key questions to understand the challenges you’re facing, any unique aspects of your situation, and your desired outcome.

2. Discussing Your Business and Plans

After talking through your immediate concerns, Kate will ask some broader questions about your business generally, your long-term goals, and your current operations. She asks these questions to get a better understanding of your business goals and current plans to make sure that any recommended next steps fit within your broader plans. It also helps her identify other legal areas that might need attention, whether you're starting a new venture, expanding, or navigating an unexpected legal hurdle.

3. Recommended Next Steps

Our goal is for you to leave the initial consultation with practical, actionable next steps. If we think we are a good fit for your needs, Kate will outline the next steps for moving forward with our firm. If it’s not a good fit, she’ll do her best to refer you to another attorney who is better suited to help with your specific situation. Sometimes you’ll get everything you need in the consultation itself so that further legal services aren’t necessary.

4. Answering Your Questions

We know you have questions, too, especially if you’ve never worked with an attorney before. Every consultation ends with you asking Kate any remaining questions you have about your situation or about working with us. While she can’t provide specific advice on how to proceed in a consultation (there simply isn’t enough time!), she can explain the various options available to you and answer questions about how the law works generally.

Why the First Consultation Matters

Regardless of whether you decide to proceed with our services or not, the first consultation is an opportunity to gain legal insights into your business. Kate will offer valuable direction and information, even if it’s just to help you understand your options and next steps.
